Since the 15th century, the valley of Glottertal has been a wine-growers' region. The vineyards of Glottertal are the steepest and highest (up to 500 metres above sea-level) of Germany. The slope gradient of up to 70 % guarantees full sunlight but allows nearly no machines for cultivation. 90 % of all the works that have to done in the wine-growing area of 58 hectare is done by hand, a fact that has positive influences on the quality of the wines which are sold to private customers, retailers, hotels and restaurants in all parts of Germany.
