Being of an altitude of 1243 metres, Mount Kandel is the highest mountain of Central Black Forest, surrounded by Glottertal, Waldkirch, St. Peter and Simonswald. Extremely wonderful views from the top and of all the mountains in the distance, rocks and mountain torrents, original Black Forest farms at idyllic places, pastures, lovely meadows and wild, genuine forests… Nature on and around Mount Kandel is characterized by a surprising diversity!
Mount Kandel offers runways for para- and hang-gliders. Landing strips are in Glottertal and Waldkirch. In winter, there are ski-lifts and cross-country ski runs. The big rock at the north side of Mount Kandel is a popular climbing paradise and around the top you´ll find lots of hiking paths with wonderful panoramic views.
